Meet Haylee Lemon

Our director Sanjesh has recently been appointed as the Master Builders Western Branch Chair.
Now, if you know Sanjesh, you know he’s not one for fuss. But this role is a great way for him to continue championing the builders, apprentices, and businesses that keep our industry strong. And one of the first things he’s done is bring fresh talent into the mix, welcoming Haylee Lemon onto the Western Branch subcommittee.

We believe in backing good people, whether that’s our own team, our subcontractors, or the next generation coming through the trades. And we’re especially proud to support the growing number of women entering the construction industry.

Did you know that women currently make up only 14% of the construction workforce in New Zealand? Yet, studies show that diverse teams, including more women, lead to greater innovation, improved safety, and higher productivity in the industry.

And then there’s Haylee.
Meet Haylee Lemon.

Haylee isn’t just any apprentice, she’s the 2024 Northern Regional Apprentice of the Year and just competed on the national stage. More than that, she’s passionate about breaking stereotypes in construction and proving that tradies don’t have to fit into a single mold.

“I’m proud to represent women in the trades—there is no one definition of what a tradie should look like.”
She’s smart, skilled, and driven, so it’s no surprise Sanjesh wanted her on board.

Haylee’s advice to future apprentices?
“Don’t doubt yourself, embrace challenges and use every moment as a learning opportunity.”

That’s exactly the kind of mindset we love to see in this industry.

Here’s to a solid 2025
